File Management
The program I use more than anything else is Ztree
It’s a file manager which does much much more than any other I’ve used, and when used in conjunction with Windows Explorer gives you almost total command over your network drives. I have used it in its various incarnations since the early 1980’s.

Graphics
- Viewers : My preference is for Faststone, and Irfanview also have a home in the toolbox.
- Editors: Primary tool is an antediluvian version of PaintShopPro because it fits like an old glove and fires quickly. Paint.net and Lightroom also have a place.
- Screenshot: Can’t go past Greenshot, IMHO.
Text Editors
As a text editor my preference is for Textpad.
For word processing I use Open Office or MS Word
HTML Editors
List of HTML Editors
I can recommend BlueGrifon and Dreamweaver. The former is free, Dreamweaver may cost several hundred dollars.
FTP
I prefer CuteFTP simply because I’ve been using it forever, but Filezilla is fine too and has the advantage of being free. Wikipedia has a long list of them to choose from.
Email
Thunderbird, in conjuction with Mailwasher.
Firewall
There are many available, can’t say which is best but I have in the past used COMODO Firewall.
Utilities
WMViewer.exe
This little program makes it easy to view and extract the contents of a winmail.dat attachment if you’re not an Outlook person.
