Pinnacle Soundbridge
I no longer use this system, but hopefully these notes will be of use to someone who does…
Want music from your computer that you can run through your sound system.
Store your music digitally, send it by WiFi to your sound system, and control it either via remote control at the sound system, or via any terminal on the network.
You will need the following components:
Hardware:
Pinnacle Soundbridge www.pinnaclesys.com/support
Software:
Itunes or similar
Firefly or similar
VisualMR: http://www.tl-it.de/media/pages/visualmr.php?lang=e
You will probably need the IP of your main computer, and possibly also the IP of the SoundBridge once it’s installed. However, VisualMR seems to find it automatically once the Soundbridge is actually running.
Reception.
I found that it would not work well at all unless reception was very good. So just because your notebook works fine 3 walls from the Wi-Fi router, it does not follow that the SB will. I eventually rewired my system so that the router had line of sight to the SB, and all my problems vanished. Some models of the Soundbridge will accept an ethernet cable, I believe.
These are very brief notes on a project that took quite some time to solve.
