Email Attachments
Attachments can be a real problem for programmers. People send information in numerous and often incompatible versions of MS Word doc files; in PowerPoint, RTF, Publisher and as html emails; in Corel, EPS and PDF; as gif, tiff, bmp, jpg, png, svg and numerous other formats including Apple specific…
Also swf, psf, exe, mpg, pdd, xls, fxr and dozens more.
Be kind to your programmer. Ask which formats are most suitable for both of you.
Rule of thumb:
Graphics for the web: jpg or png
Documents for web: text file, Word file or PDF, all with separate graphics files. Embed graphics into your documents by all means, but ensure you send the same ones separately, in reasonably high resolution.

PDF Files
Portable Document Format by Adobe. A most useful method of transmitting formatted information such as news letters and sales brochures over via email attachments.
When using the PDF format, the information will not be reformatted by your browser. Once the PDF Acrobat reader software is set up, only the information you require needs to be downloaded, saving you time and bandwidth. The PDF files can be saved to disc for future reference.
Adobe produce Acrobat Reader. It is free, easy to install and available here.
The software is available for most computer platforms.
