  Henry  Moore

Birth Year : 1898
Death Year : 1986
Country : United Kingdom

Henry Moore was born in England, the seventh of ten children, to a coal miner who taught himself enough mathematics to enable him to become manager of the mine in which he worked. Moore always liked the art lessons given at school and he decided to become a sculptor when he was eleven years old and heard in Sunday school a story about Michelangelo. Moore himself says that he owes a great deal to an art teacher in elementary school who encouraged him as much as she could.
